Job Title: API Integration Developer

Reports to: Director, Installation & Data Services

POSITION SUMMARY

The API Integration Developer provides assistance to customers who are developing or integrating applications that leverage Innovative’s APIs, provides custom application development for Innovative customers including specification, development, testing and delivery of applications, serves as an in-house subject matter expert to the Professional Services team, and provides input to Product Management concerning customer experiences, requirements and other feedback.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:
Provides technical consultation to libraries developing or integrating applications with Innovative’s APIs.
Consults with customers by phone, e-mail and web conferencing on API integration requirements, software development requirements, and API-related troubleshooting during application development and integration.
Designs, builds, unit tests and supports services in an agile environment.
Integrates services with legacy systems and APIs, and provides clean interfaces to clients.
Produces high quality, elegant implementations on time and according to plan.
Collaborates with cross-functional, distributed teams
Performs effective project management involving both internal and external team members.
Builds strong relationships with peers and contributes to a vibrant culture.

Additional Responsibilities:
Participates in departmental team projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or equivalent.

Experience:
Minimum 4 years of experience in software development using Java.
Minimum 2 years developing web applications and services.
Experience working with technologies such as Apache, Tomcat, Postgres, MySQL.
Experience with REST and JSON.
Proven Java/Scala service framework development experience.
Experience developing in a UNIX environment.
Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
Strong familiarity with OO design and development methodologies.
Familiarity with distributed systems and scalability.
Ability to present, learn, and apply new technologies.
Demonstrate effective communication skills and teamwork.
Ability to manage workload and conflicting priorities.

Preferred
Experience with design and architecture of large, scalable services and systems.
Experience developing services or applications in diverse architectural contexts.
Experience with Postgres or other SQL based RDBMS.
Experience developing Servlets and JSPs in an Apache/Tomcat environment.
SCRUM experience; CSM certification ideal

Although duties are typically performed during normal business hours, occasional off-hours work may be required to meet customer and/or business needs.
