Assistant Knowledge Centre Manager

Reports to: Knowledge Services Manager

Overall Purpose

A&L Goodbody, one of Ireland’s premier corporate law firms, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Knowledge Services Manager to work within its Knowledge Centre.

The Knowledge Centre is one of the core business support functions of the Firm, and helps to ensure that our lawyers have immediate access to business critical information on case law, legislation and other relevant data. This full-time role demands a high level of legal knowledge, creativity in problem solving, and independent judgment.

Based in Dublin, the successful candidate will work alongside the Knowledge Services Manager and the Knowledge Centre Assistant.

Tasks
 Provide extensive legal research support to members of the Firm and its clients.
 Undertake research in support of the legal sector and client activities of the Firm.
 Manage KnowAll Enquire – the enquiry management system.
 Contribute to the management of the Knowledge Centre enquiry service to A&L Goodbody lawyers in Dublin and other offices.
 Train members of the firm on legal information resources and legal research generally. This role includes the development and implementation of training programmes, manuals and eLearning solutions to support user education.
 Liaise with the Knowledge Centre Assistant to ensure the [correct] daily management of Knowledge Centre administrative functions e.g. cataloguing of material, processing of post, maintenance of the Knowledge Centre collection and other administrative functions.
 Liaise with vendors to trouble-shoot service problems and to ensure that the Firm gets the full benefit from premium subscriptions.
 Proactively contribute to the development of the services provided by the Knowledge Centre.
 Provide support to the Knowledge Services Manager on a daily basis.
 Contribute to the management of the Knowledge Centre’s open-access and closed-access physical spaces.
 Contribute as a technical editor and content editor to the Knowledge Centre intranet site, a SharePoint site.
 Contribute to the re-development, testing and re-launch of Solcara’s Legal Search, a federated search tool.
Skills
 Excellent legal research skills.
 Expert user of Irish, UK and EU legal research resources for example PLC, Westlaw UK &; IE, Lexis Library, Justis, EUR-Lex and more.
 Demonstrable experience training end users on legal information resources and legal research.
 Strong IT and systems skills required.
 Use of KnowAll (Library Management System) and Enquire (Enquiry Management System) desirable.
 SharePoint 2013 experience is an advantage.
 Solsearch experience desirable.
 Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

 High level of attention to detail

Qualifications and Experience

 Good quality primary degree (2:1 and above)
 A recognised post-graduate qualification in Library or Information Studies
 Post qualification experience of working in a corporate (and / or special) library setting
 Excellent IT skills with a strong interest in emerging technologies and developments in web based services.
 Strong end user training experience.
