We are a business law firm with extensive knowledge and experience in the following sectors: Energy; Technology; Financial Services; Built Environment; and Healthcare & Life Sciences.

We wish to recruit an experienced Assistant Librarian to join our growing Library and Information Services team in our Dublin office. Working as part of a team of seven and reporting into the Head of Library and Information Services, you will be responsible for the management and development of MHC’s library systems and technical offerings. You will also provide legal research support. This role would suit an experienced librarian with strong IT skills who enjoys working as part of a busy and collaborative team.

Responsibilities include

·        Act as the lead for all library systems used within MHC, including Library management system and portal development (Soutron), Federated search (Solcara) and Library Enquiry management system. Oversee development, integration and implementation of current and future library systems;

·        Legal Research: work collaboratively with the library team to provide research and current awareness services;

·        Systems support for online and digital legal resources and databases;

·        Develop excellent working relationships across the firm, including with IT, fee earners and support staff;

·        Keep track of and advise the Head of Library on technical updates and library developments which may enhance library services; and

·        Provide training, guidance and support, including training materials, to individuals and teams across the firm on the use of the firm’s library technology.

Candidate requirements

·        A qualified librarian with at least five years of experience, ideally within a professional services environment;

·        Excellent IT and systems skills with prior experience implementing and managing library systems;

·        SharePoint, HTML and MS Office skills;

·        Excellent legal research skills and expert user of legal databases including Westlaw UK & IE, Lexis PSL, Practical Law, LexisLibrary, Bloomsbury, Justis, EUR-Lex. Knowledge of print and online resources used for legal research;

·        Proven time management and organisational skills;

·        Excellent communication skills both verbal and written;

·        A strong team player who thrives in a busy, friendly and collaborative environment.
