Assistant Librarian (Maternity Leave Contract) – Marino Institute of Education
The Marino Institute of Education (MIE) is an Associated College of Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin. The Institute provides a range of education courses at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. The Library supports the learning and teaching activities of the Marino Institute of Education by providing library and information services. MIE wishes to recruit an Assistant Librarian. This is a part time temporary Maternity Leave Contract, starting early January 2018
Essential requirements:
A recognised graduate/post graduate qualification in Library and Information Studies
Relevant post qualification experience in an appropriate academic library
Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills and a keen interest in working with Library users in a learning environment
Excellent IT skills
Cumas feidhmeannach sa Ghaeilge
An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A good understanding of the Irish education system including the continuum of teacher education, teaching and learning and continuous professional development
A willingness to work flexible shift patterns including evenings and weekends.
The Role:
Manage the circulation/enquiries desk on a rota basis
Library housekeeping duties in relation to the management of circulation of stock
Provide research skills training to students on a range of electronic resources and new technologies
Developing, delivering and evaluating information literacy sessions and supporting materials including via e-learning opportunities
Promoting and marketing the profile of Library services, using a range approaches, including social media.
Any other duties assigned by the Librarian
Deputising for the Librarian where necessary.
