Assistant Librarian Library & Knowledge Team
The Role
McCann FitzGerald is one of Ireland’s premier law firms employing over 600 people. We provide the highest quality legal advice and representation to Irish and overseas clients. Our clients are principally in the corporate, financial and business sectors and we also advise government entities and many state bodies, pension funds, and educational institutions.
We are currently recruiting an Assistant Librarian to join our library service in our Dublin office. The successful candidate will work with our Legal Information Manager and Library Assistant to provide an excellent legal information service to the firm.
This is a permanent full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:

Management of book and serial acquisitions
-
Delivering effective training in the use of the firm’s information resources, to enable fee-earners and trainees to develop their legal research and information literacy skills

Cataloguing of hard copy and digital resources

Legal and business research and enquiry work
-
Administrative tasks
-
Such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time
Experience, Knowledge & Technical Skills
The successful candidate will be a qualified librarian with at least 2 years’ experience.
Also required:

Good IT skills with a demonstrable interest in emerging technologies and developments

Experience in designing and delivering end user training

Accuracy and attention to detail

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent critical thinking skills

Strong organisational and time-management skills

The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable:

Previous experience of working in a legal information service
Education
The successful candidate will have:

A strong primary degree and a post-graduate qualification in library and information studies
