Applications are invited for the post of Digital Repository of Ireland Project Metadata Cataloguer – Digital Resources & Imaging Services (DRIS) at the Trinity College Library Dublin. The person appointed will join the Digital Resources and Imaging Services team and will be responsible for all activities relating to the creation of project content metadata (original and complex copy) and its input into associated repositories, and for all Library and Manuscripts collections assigned to the Digital Repository of Ireland Demonstrator project. Metadata creation will occur to a variety of standards including but not limited to Dublin Core and MODS, with the likely introduction of additional standards as defined by the Digital Repository of Ireland project. As part of the cataloguing activity, copyright research will need to be completed to verify the legal status of the project content.
Applicants should have a good honours degree and a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Studies, together with expertise in international standards for bibliographic description and authority control. The appointee will have an excellent knowledge of such topics as metadata schema, metadata interoperability and the emerging RDA standard. The successful candidate will be comfortable initiating independent research to verify copyright status of orphan work and recognised documents and publications when necessary.
