Wicklow County Council is the Authority responsible for Local Government in County Wicklow with its corporate headquarters located at County Buildings, Wicklow Town.

Wicklow County Council performs a significant role in shaping the strategic vision of the County. It provides a diverse, comprehensive and evolving range of services to citizens, businesses and visitors to the County which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, transportation, enterprise, leisure and community services with a focus on making the County, our towns and countryside attractive places to live work and invest. The County plays a key role in supporting economic development and enterprise at a local level.

An opportunity now exists in Wicklow County Council for the position of County Librarian.

Reporting to a Director of Service, the County Librarian is charged with the responsibility for the planning and management of the Library services for the Local Authority. This is a senior management role within the Local Authority which includes determining the organisational framework of the library in what is a very challenging environment.

The County Librarian holds responsibility for leading on policy implementation, service delivery and change management in a dynamic and goal driven environment. The role requires strong leadership, innovation, agility and a commitment to customer service, alongside a high level of professional library and management skills, which include a strategic and operational element while maintaining value for money.
