Job Title: Digital Archivist
Reporting to: Archivist and Records Manager
Location: RDS

Salary: €35,000 – €40,000 DOE

About the RDS
The RDS is a philanthropic organisation which, since its establishment in 1731, has helped Ireland to thrive culturally and economically. The RDS has a number of income streams which support this mission, including Membership and Fundraising. The RDS currently has around 3,000 Members in its database, some of whom are philanthropic donors of the Foundations programmes in areas such as Arts, Agriculture, Enterprise, Equestrian and Science.

About the Role
Reporting to the Archivist and Records Manager, the Digital Archivist will be responsible for delivery of the RDS Library & Archives digitisation programme including material appraisal and selection, meta-data creation, digital collection development and exhibition curation.

Key Responsibilities
• Delivery of day to day researcher services- including answering researcher queries by phone, email and in person and the management and development of the RDS Library & Archives researcher database.
• Delivery and development of RDS Archives and Records Management Policy including the selection, appraisal, listing and storage of print and electronic records.
• Development and delivery of the RDS Library & Archives webpages and Social Media communications content.
• Development and delivery of RDS Library & Archives outreach including
curation of physical exhibitions, rotating displays and presentations to the public and RDS members and staff.
• Support the administration of both internal and external meetings which includes preparation of meeting packs, minute-taking, organisation of room booking, invites, catering and technology if required.
• Other duties as directed by the Archivist and Records Manager.

• Personable and adaptable individual who can work independently and as part of a small team
• Committed to delivering high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders
• Commitment to the mission and objectives of the RDS
• Knowledge of and interest in the preservation of historical records

Skills
• Strong IT skills (MS Office, website & database management)
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Essential
• Recognized qualification in archives & records management/ digital preservation

Experience
• Experience of working in archives/library environment
• Knowledge of records management standards & records retention
• Understanding and experience of technical issues relating to digital records
