Director
The National Archives is a major national cultural institution which holds the records of the modern Irish state, documenting its historical evolution and the creation of Ireland’s national identity. This is an exciting time for the National Archives as it is now seeking to
expand its digital assets and resources.
The Director will be required to implement a very challenging agenda over the course of the five year appointment and will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of the organisation.
This role presents significant opportunities for those interested in leading the collection, preservation and delivery of Ireland’s State archives.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A track record of achievement in posts of significant responsibility with a strong commitment to quality service delivery;
• A clear understanding of the role of the National Archives, its development needs and the opportunities and challenges it faces particularly in the digital environment and in relation to infrastructural requirements;
• Evidence of an interest in Irish history, literature, political science, culture and society along with a clear understanding of the National Archives;
• Proven and excellent leadership and management skills;
• Strong presentation, developed communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
