INSTITUTE LIBRARIAN
Permanent contract – 37 hours per week
Competition open to all suitably qualified members of the public.
Reporting to:
The Librarian will report to the Registrar.
The Job:
The overall responsibility of the Institute Librarian is to provide a pro-active, cost effective and efficient library and information service in support of the teaching and research requirements of the Institute. The Institute Librarian will be responsible for the formulation of policy and the implementation and for the development and promotion of the library information service within the Institute and the region. The Librarian will also be responsible for directing and supervising, as appropriate, the work of members of staff of the library including evaluating staff performance. The duties to be undertaken by the appointee may vary from institute to institute and from time to time.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have an honours degree together with a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Science or an equivalent qualification, and at least three years’ experience of library work. Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills are essential.
Salary Scale:
Remuneration will be based on the College Librarian salary scale, currently €71,139 – €90,773 (9 points). Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
