Librarian (Part time)
The successful applicant will be a suitably qualified librarian to support our intellectual disability services in the following key areas:
• Managing access to relevant health and social care resources
• Working with subscription agents to manage the annual purchasing decision for electronic journals
• Managing document acquisition via our network of commercial and library suppliers.
• Promoting relevant external research and best practice to COPE’s staff
• Collating and distilling material on a monthly basis and distributing to established and new readers.
• Maintaining the Library Blog/COPE Intranet where key national & international policy documents are catalogued and linked.
• Exploiting the investment in information resources
• Promoting the information service to all COPE staff and in particular to those undertaking studies in the field of ID.
• Maintaining the catalogue of books in the library and departmental locations.
• Developing and sharing the record of COPE’s past and current research.
Skills & Competencies required:
• Degree or post-grad in library/information studies
• Knowledge of medical/intellectual disability/social care research resources
• Experience using RSS, blog and other web 2.0 technologies
• Reference Manager/Citation Management Software experience
