Librarian (Grade V) // Midland Regional Hospital
This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive librarian to deliver and promote library services to staff in the HSE midlands area.
The library team is made up of a diverse, friendly and dedicated group of people, committed to serving the information needs of HSE staff. The library service in the HSE midlands area is a regional service. The team works collaboratively to provide a service across the acute services as well as to disability services, mental health services, community and primary care and other HSE specialities in the region.

Areas of Responsibility-
The post holder will be responsible for developing, improving and promoting the full range of library services and resources, as well as being involved in the day to day running of the library service at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.
Duties include supervising a team of dedicated library assistants, and interacting with a wide range of departments both within the hospital and with community based staff in the counties of Laois and Offaly.
The successful candidate will be required to work four days per week at the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore and one day per week at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.
The position holder will work with diverse library users, from group training to information support for research-active clinical staff and service managers.
The library service is evolving at an exciting pace to meet the demands of staff and to keep abreast with healthcare developments both nationally and internationally. The library is relocating in the next fortnight to a new state of the art Education Centre at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore. This will allow the hospital to increase its postgraduate and research strategic objectives.
Eligibility Criteria-
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
· Have a recognised degree or postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Studies
· Significant recent experience of working in a healthcare or academic library setting
· Supervisory experience in a library setting
