About the Learning Centre
The Creative Arts & Digital Learning Centre provides our students with a modern learning facility.
Our aim is to support the students’ learning with appropriate resources and a dedicated space in which to use them, as well as to support their wider education by providing space where they can meet together in groups and also enjoy recreational reading.
We have approximately 3000 print titles, subscriptions to print and online journals, a DVD collection, a laptop/tablet lending service.
Duties:
- Budget management (resources, equipment, facilities)
- Collection management (Print and online collections)
- Coordination of a yearly exhibition
- Co-teaching on modules/classes (information Literacy)
- Facilitating book clubs/meetings
- Recommendation of reading material to staff & students
- Research classes for subject specific projects/topics
- Research consultations for staff
- Research consultations for student projects (Search strategies/Referencing etc.)
Skills
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and proactive person, with a passion for knowledge education and reading and should have the following skills:
Essential
- A postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Studies
- Experience of second level education in Ireland
- Good attention to detail
- A good working knowledge of MS Office, and some Library Management System experience
Desirable
- Experience in delivering Information Literacy Skills classes
- Experience of e-learning, and/or VLEs
- Understanding of National Literacy & Numeracy strategies
