Librarian – Grade V

2 Year Fixed Term Contract, Part-time – 30 hour week Monday to Friday.

Location: Palmerstown, Dublin 20.

The Organisation:

Stewarts is a voluntary organisation providing comprehensive community based services to people with an intellectual disability. We support people with a wide range of support needs across residential settings, day services, supported independent living, job advocacy and vocational training.

Purpose of the Post:

The Librarian is primarily responsible for the delivery of an effective and relevant library and information service to the staff and service users of Stewarts Care and the community.

The role involves managing the daily operations of the library and maintaining and improving the service. As the library is a joint-use facility, the librarian has an obligation to manage a part time branch Library within the terms of the arrangement.

It is essential that the successful candidate has the following:

  1. Qualification in Library and Information Studies or a relevant discipline.
  2. Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience.
  3. Experience using Library Management systems would be an advantage.
  4. Experience or knowledge with the Intellectual Disability sector is desirable.
  5. Ability to work productively both individually and as a team member.
  6. Strong I.T. Skills.
  7. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Salary and qualifications are in accordance with Department of Health & Children Regulations and HSE consolidated pay scales.

Current Salary Scale: Clerical Grade V – €43,628 –€52,402 on a pro-rata basis.
