Role: Library and Knowledge Manager
Reporting to: Campus Director

Purpose of the role
An opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced Librarian, who will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of the IMI Library and Knowledge Centre, to support our learning, teaching, commercial and research activities. The successful candidate will be an innovator, committed to developing and delivering value-add services, both on campus and online. They will be responsible for driving a customer focused service and a commitment to quality.
Key Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Library and Knowledge Manager role include strategic and budget planning, vendor negotiations, collection development / resource management, team management and content Creation for IMI website:
Drive the strategic direction of the IMI Library and its information services.
Design & deliver value add services to corporate and academic customers and internal stakeholders.
Proactively consult and liaise with IMI’s corporate customers on their learning and information requirements and deliver on same.
Work with IMI colleagues across the organisation to develop / evolve customer offering and service.
Meet with current and potential member organisations, to support the retention and expansion of our community of member organisations.
Support IMI programmes through the design and delivery of information skills training and through the provision of supporting material, online guides and tutorials.
Advise and support participants on IMI programmes.
Design and deliver library and information presentations to IMI customers / participants.
Report on library usage and to create innovate ways of increasing take up on service.

Identify and exploit new channels and technology to deliver targeted client support.
Deliver a high quality reference and consulting service to the IMI community.
Identify, select and evaluate library resources (print and online) to ensure collections are current and adequately reflect the needs of our customers / participants.
Maximize resource discovery and ensure ease of authentication.
Manage online resources and proactively research new online offerings.
Effectively market and promote library services and resources to ensure maximum awareness and uptake both internally and externally.
Liaise with suppliers to secure best value for money for IMI.
Manage the operational activities of the Library.
Manage, train and develop the Library team.
Maintain, update and drive improvement for the IMI library website.
Provide knowledge and content for IMI website and social media team.
Oversee and access the library’s social media activities.
Other ad hoc duties as may be required.
Experience and qualifications required:
Postgraduate qualification in Library and Information Studies (Level 9 on the National framework of Qualifications).
Experience (3 years) in an academic and/or special information environment with a focus on remote service provision.
Experience in design and delivery of user training.
Experience of library & information services marketing and promotion.
Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Flexible approach to role and tasks as required.
Demonstrable flair for creativity and innovation.
Excellent IT skills.
Experience in website content creation.
Experience in knowledge management and website design and management would be an advantage.
Team management experience is also desirable.
A background in the field of business/management would also be an advantage.
