Arthur Cox – Library Assistant Position
Hours 9.00am to 5.30pm
The Library Assistant will have two main duties: conducting legal research and traditional library administration.
This is a full-time role, reporting to the Head of Learning & Development, who is a partner. The individual will also work closely with the Assistant Librarian, the Professional Support Lawyers and other partners in the firm.
Responsibilities – Legal Research
Assists fee earners with legal research and queries
Assists with the preparation of training manuals, user guides, FAQs and webinars and the regular audit and amendment of guides
Liaises with external trainers to organise training sessions
Responsibilities – Library Administration
Monitors the Law Society judgments alerter, sources material from external libraries for court purposes and associated invoicing
General upkeep of library, including cataloguing of journals and books and weeding out hard copy and electronic material where appropriate
Supports development and review of library processes and procedures, including contributions to library pages of intranet
Supports development of RSS feeds and alerts for fee earners
Skills, experience and attributes required of the ideal candidate
Strong academic background. Post-graduate library qualification essential
Has the ability to undertake legal research unsupervised
Strong demonstrated interest and literacy in IT
Excellent written and communications skills
Ability to work as part of diverse team
Ability to work to deadlines, manage multiple projects and deliver under pressure
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment
Ability to work on own initiative
