Library Assistant – Dublin 8.
Part Time (7.5 hrs on a Tuesday) and fixed term contract to 24th December 2020.
Salary: €4,700 – €7,281 DOE

What does our Barnardos Library and Information Service do?
The Library and Information Service is responsible for supporting the information and resource needs of anyone with an interest in children’s well-being.
The library service provides its members, both internal and external to Barnardos, with the latest research and practice resources on children and their families. Members of the library include policy makers, practitioners and students.
The information service component of the service responds to telephone, email and drop-in enquiries from professionals, students and the general public on issues to do with children and their families such as children’s well-being, child welfare and child protection.
What will the Library Assistant do?
The person will provide a comprehensive support and administration service to our Library and Information service.
They will support with ordering books, assist with the maintenance of our online catalogue, process payments and answer child protection queries that are received. Full job description is on our website.
Who are we looking for?
Experience and Knowledge
- 2 years directly relevant experience of working in a library and information service or similar environment that involves general administration and responding to queries (email and on phone).
- Experience of providing and responding to information requests.
- Experience of information systems and processes such as information retrieval from databases, processing information requests and organising information as per prescribed systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to use web-based resources.
Qualifications
Junior Certificate or equivalent minimum level of education.
A qualification in library or information management a distinct advantage.
There is no negotiation on the working day which is a Tuesday.
