Library Assistant – Mason Hayes & Curran

This is an interesting, busy and varied role which provides an opportunity to participate and contribute to the provision of library and information services at Mason Hayes & Curran. The role may suit someone who has recently qualified with a post-graduate information qualification and is looking for experience or to extend their experience working within a professional services environment. It is a permanent full time role.
Duties
The Library Assistant will have responsibility for the following areas:
- Book circulation – manage all aspects of book circulation, including the creation of reports and statistical data
- Library Systems – providing assistance with all library systems related projects – e.g. LMS implementation, maintenance and upgrades, Enquiries database and Legal search
In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be involved in providing a full range of library services including enquiries, current awareness, cataloguing, and assisting with training programmes for trainees and interns. There will be opportunities to get involved in all library projects.
Educational requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a third level degree and either be studying for OR have a recognised post-graduate qualification in library information
Skills and experience required
Strong IT skills
Strong organisational skills and demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise, manage time and multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines
Knowledge of cataloguing
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines,
Able to work productively both individually and as a team member
A proactive approach with analytical and problem solving skills
Experience desirable
Experience working with library systems
Experience of working in a professional services environment
Knowledge of legal databases
