Library Assistant – Library and Knowledge Team
McCann FitzGerald is one of Ireland’s premier law firms employing approximately 600 people. We provide the highest quality legal advice and representation to Irish and overseas clients. Our clients are principally in the corporate, financial and business sectors and we also advise government entities and many state bodies, pension funds, and educational institutions.
We are currently recruiting a Library Assistant to join our library service in our Dublin office. The successful candidate will work with our Legal Information Manager and Assistant Librarian to provide an excellent legal information service to the firm and its clients.
This is a permanent full-time position.
This role may suit a recent library and information studies graduate or a near-qualified student of such a course.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
Serials receipt and distribution;
Maintenance of records on the firm’s library management system;
Legal and business research and enquiry work;
Looseleaf filing, photocopying and shelving;
Administrative tasks;
Other duties as required.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Required:
Keen interest in library work or information management;
Strong IT skills;
Accuracy and attention to detail;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable, but not essential:
Previous experience of working in a legal library; or
Familiarity with legal or business information resources.
Education
A strong primary degree; and
An accredited qualification in library and information studies or current study on such a course, and nearing qualification.
