Grade VII Library Resources Manager, HSE National Health Library & Knowledge Service
The Library Resources Manager will be responsible for the development, delivery and implementation of current and future NHLKS strategies in an assigned geographic location.
The post holder will manage and lead substantial change and library quality improvement programmes.
The Library Resources Manager will be assigned authority to lead a national virtual team of library staff to implement best practice in library and knowledge services across the HSE. National virtual teams are aligned to strategy and focus on the following areas: Evidence Search and Summary, Information Skills, Knowledge Broker Service, Digital Knowledge Service, Estates management and Procurement. This responsibility will include leadership of a team of library staff based across the HSE, virtual team leads may rotate and teams may evolve over time. The post holder will be assigned any other projects / initiatives from time to time.
The post holder will provide library expertise, support and advice to local library users and will take a lead role in library development in a defined geographic area within the HSE encompassing both managerial and administrative responsibilities.
The remit of the National Health Library and Knowledge Service (NHLKS) is to provide access for all healthcare practitioners to a comprehensive range of evidence-based, up-to-date knowledge resources for the purposes of:

research into specific clinical and non-clinical research questions, conditions or treatments relevant to the care of individual patients and service users

keeping up-to-date with developments in a specific area of the health sciences, or the professional literature of a given specialty

continuing professional education
The NHLKS is evolving at an exciting pace to meet the demands of staff and to keep abreast with healthcare developments both nationally and internationally. A 5-year strategy for the service has set the direction of travel from 2018-2023. It is expected that the new post holder will continue the work in planning and organising service changes in line with current and future strategies as well as best practice both nationally and internationally.
There is an immediate permanent 0.7 WTE vacancy in St. Conal’s Hospital, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal with a remit for library services in Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim. A panel may be created for GVII Library Resources Manager within the HSE National Health Library & Knowledge Service from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.
