The Research and Systematic Review Librarian for the Health Sciences plays a critical role in advancing the research, teaching, clinical, and service missions of the Department of Nursing and TUS Library. This position emphasizes supporting systematic review processes, scholarly communication, citation management, and research impact services. The librarian will work closely with students, faculty, clinicians, and researchers, providing expert guidance on evidence-based searching, information synthesis, data management, and research methodologies. This role is collaborative, working within a team to advance research services and implement innovative solutions in scholarly communication in the Department of Nursing.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
Systematic Review and Research
• Serve as a primary contact for systematic reviews, providing expert guidance on best practices for formulating research questions, developing search strategies, selecting databases, and synthesizing research results.
• Offer consultations on evidence-based searching, synthesis, reporting, and support for systematic reviews and meta-analyses
• Conduct training sessions on systematic review protocols, PRISMA guidelines, and related software.
Instruction and Workshop Development
• Design and lead instructional sessions, both in-person and online, on topics such as biomedical databases, systematic review methodologies, evidenc e -based searching, citation management, and research impact
• Develop and maintain online resources, including guides on systematic reviews, bibliometrics, and citation management.
Scholarly Communication and Research Impact:
• Support faculty and students in analyzing and communicating the impact of their research through bibliometrics, citation analysis, and research impact tools
• Promote and educate the community on open access, alternative publishing models, copyright, and open educational resources
• Advise on best practices for scholarly publishing trends, open science, and data management in collaboration with the Scholarly Communication Librarian
Collaborative Initiatives:
• Engage with interdisciplinary teams of librarians, faculty, and researchers to support the department’s educational and research missions
• Participate in departmental, library-wide, and professional organization committees, contributing to library initiatives and advocating for innovative services.
• Resource Development and Maintenance:
• Create, maintain, and enhance online research guides and tools to support scholarly communication, health sciences research, and systematic reviews
• Stay current with trends in research data management, scholarly publishing, and bibliometrics to align services with best practices.
Other Duties:
• Deliver reference and research services, specifically tailored to evidence-bas ed and systematic review support for health sciences students and faculty.
• Lead instructional workshops on citation management, research impact analysis, and database navigation
• Collaborate on broader library services, contributing to campus, regional, and national professional activities.
