Canadian Bilingual School is located in a developing area of South Khaitan in wealthy and safe Kuwait. Our school includes Pre-K through Grade 11, as of September 2013, as our population of 900 students continues to grow. Canadian Bilingual School has been created to not only promote the strengths and support the weaknesses of children individually but also to challenge each student to flourish intellectually by developing their own special talent.

The school offers a dual language curriculum, English and Arabic, which enables the students to be competent in both languages. Our English curriculum is based on the Ontario curriculum which is supported by all the appropriate texts and resources. The Arabic curriculum is provided by the Kuwait MOE.

Essential Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a professional/academic qualification in Librarianship and/or Information Studies/Science or related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience preferred though applications also welcome from recently qualified candidates with relevant experience.

Job Description
Designation: Library Science and Information Management    

Tasks, Activities, Expectations
1. Review and work on the next 5 year plan for the library. Ensure that goals set for the current year are achieved.
2. Effectively use the Follett system to code and monitor books/ library materials.
3. Work with teachers within the “Partners in Action” approach and on theme related school events – e.g. Literacy Week.
4. Support teachers and students in accessing resources – pulling theme, arranging speakers etc.  
5. Teach students directly – research skills, reading sessions etc.
6. Organise Book Fairs twice a year and author visits to enhance the learning experiences.
7. Plan and develop effective teaching and learning activities using the modified Ontario curriculum.
8. Make available a wide range of teaching materials and equipment, including reading materials at many levels, instructional games, resource materials etc.
9. Implement a high standard of library/classroom discipline, pupil manners and behavior both inside and outside the library/classroom.
10. Organise extracurricular activities such as after school parental workshops and after school club activities, such as reading clubs.
11. Maintain a high standard of library and corridor displays which reflect the work of the students
12. E-books -Doing research and development to improve the collection of digital books in the library. This is particularly important for high school so that we have more access to resources.
13. To occasionally provide classroom coverage on a rotating basis with staff in an emergency situation.
14. Be an ambassador of the school and be actively involved in promoting the school.
15. Participate in activities designated by the principal/admin coordinator as and when required.
16. Perform other appropriate duties as the school may assign from time to time.

Department Goals
1. Organise book fairs of a good standard.
2. Organise visits of authors and other library events for the school.

Individual Goals
1. Research and develop appropriate programs and digital books for the school library.

1. Weekly report to the Principals, Managing Director and Operations manager.
2. Detailed Five Year Plan to be prepared by February of each year.
