Key Duties include:

An interest in working with teenagers in the context of educational disadvantage and an interest in literacy development

Experience of managing all aspects of a library is desirable but not a requirement

Excellent organisational, ICT, communication and interpersonal skills

Maintaining and developing a high quality school library
-
Liaising with, and reporting to the Principal in running and maintenance of the library and all accompanying literacy and numeracy based programmes.

Continuous and ongoing engagement with all students in your school to ensure that they use the school library effectively.

To coordinate a lunchtime library club and to facilitate after school study

Drawing up a Library Policy and a Literacy Development Plan to meet the needs of your particular school.

Managing library stock using the Scooter management system

To work with the ICT coordinator on joint projects and activities.

Management of the library technology equipment.

Provide support for teachers with the English curriculum and Literacy Programmes – please see our website.

Develop and work with a team of student librarians, leading and supervising their work.

Participate in primary/secondary school transition activities ie showcasing the Library, booklists and so on.

Assist the AEN department in the running of Literacy Interventions.

Develop a culture of reading through activities, guest speakers, readers, competitions, book clubs etc.

Supervision of students using the library for reading and study.

Maintain a vibrant and creative atmosphere.
