St Louis High School is seeking a part-time School Librarian to oversee and run their dynamic and well established library for the academic year 2022-2023 (school term times only).
Key Duties will include:
• An interest in working with teenage girls in an educational establishment.
• An interest in supporting literacy development and working with the school’s literacy team.
• Excellent organisational, ICT, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Maintaining and developing a high-quality school library .
• Liaising with and reporting to the Principal in running and maintenance of the library and all accompanying literacy and numeracy- based programmes.
• Continuous and ongoing engagement with all students in the school to ensure that they use the school library effectively.
• To coordinate a library club either before/after school or during lunch time.
• To assist with school supervision when or if required.
• Drawing up a Library Policy and to contribute to the literacy team’s planning.
• Managing the library stock using the Heritage management system.
• To provide support for teachers from various subject departments.
• To coordinate 1st year English class-time visits to the library.
• To further develop links with the local library services in Rathmines.
• Develop and work with a team of student librarians, leading and supervising their work.
• Develop a culture of reading through activities, guest speakers, readers, competitions, book clubs and to assist with the biennial Arts Festival etc.
• Supervision of students using the library for reading and study.
• Maintain a vibrant and creative atmosphere ensuring attractive and up-to-date noticeboards and library information are on display around the school.
• To co-ordinate the Book Rental Scheme.
• To liaise with the Arts Co-ordinator.
• Participate in the school’s annual Open Evening to showcase the Library.
• To be available to take on additional paid supervision hour if required.
• To be part of a dynamic school community and to contribute positively towards the ethos of St Louis High School.
