As a Search Editor (SE), your primary area of responsibility is responding directly to the search needs of our global customer base. This position is responsible for strategically working on the keywords associated to assets that are indexed within the Getty Images systems, reviewing new content for keyword compliance, communicating keyword standards to contributors and partners, and updating the Controlled Vocabulary as appropriate.
The position works closely with Search Vocabulary Editors (SVE) and Search Vocabulary Linguists (SVL) to ensure that vocabulary development is consistent across all languages and that the correct application of keywords based on Getty Images’ standards is adhered to.
Your Next Challenge:
- Develop strategies to prioritize and maximize the manipulation of metadata to best serve our global customer search experience while keeping pace with the exponential growth of content added to the various Getty sites
- Supply written and verbal communication to keyword vendors, contributors and partners pertaining to metadata standards including the generation of keyword feedback and methodology guides
- Create and modify terms in the Getty Images controlled vocabulary to support global customer search needs and keyword clean-up
- Define automated rules to strategically eliminate manual disambiguation on ingestion, thereby improving time-to-market, search accuracy, and providing access to localized metadata needed for globally search
- Research, analyze and respond to web metric trends, customer feedback, internal feedback and reports to improve search
- Assists in the testing of tools and software as needed
What You’ll Need:
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in this field
- Masters of Library Science coursework, degree, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Demonstrated understanding of web site search, vocabulary and keywording methodologies and search systems within a commercial environment
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment
- Demonstrated visual literacy and description skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to work successfully within a global team involving regular communication with remote team members in different time zones
- An articulate written and verbal communicator
- An understanding and appreciation of web customer visual information needs and search requirements
- Computer proficiency with an aptitude for mastering software systems
- Strong Microsoft Office application knowledge (Word, Access, Excel)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize many responsibilities while maintaining quality within tight deadlines
- Enthusiastic and pro-active problem solver
- A self-motivated, highly organized, creative individual
